History of Asom Divas

Asom Divas celebrates the legacy of Chaolung Sukapha, a prince from the Tai state of Mong Mao (modern-day Yunnan, China). In 1228, Sukapha arrived in Assam after a long journey over the Patkai Hills and established the Ahom Kingdom. Known as the “Architect of Bor Asom” (Greater Assam), Sukapha is revered for fostering unity among diverse ethnic groups and laying the foundation for a kingdom that lasted nearly 600 years.
