Vicente Clavel Andres, a Valencian writer, proposed the idea to honor Miguel de Cervantes. Initially celebrated on October 7th (Cervantes’ birthday), it was later moved to April 23rd, coinciding with the death anniversaries of literary giants William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes.
